Derived from "thread of life" in French, designer Sharon Lombardo's global adventures inspired the collection. "FIL DE VIE'S allegorical meaning has been used in mythology and literature throughout history. I've always been drawn to the idea of connecting the past, present, and future, weaving it together in a new way, and with a unique point of view."

This kaleidoscopic sensibility was honed growing up in Encinitas, Southern California, where the mystique of surf culture as a way of life endures. Sharon's wanderlust and free-spirited sensibility have always been part of her design aesthetic and work, first exploring classic Americana at Tommy Hilfiger, then at Kate Spade New York as SVP of Design, culminating with a tenure as Creative Director of Anne Klein.

Combining this innate romanticism with Morocco's folkloric craftsmanship, FIL DE VIE'S unique curation of season-less heirloom-style pieces are handmade to stand the test of time, spark the imagination, and liberate the women wearing them. "My passion for textiles, folkloric and traditional dress and mythology flows through the collections' long, dramatic volumes, luxurious natural fibers of fine linen and gauze, artisanal details, sweeping proportions, fluidity, and draping."

Sharon works intimately with Berber and Marrakesh women, whose renowned embroidery melds poetic artistry with her love of mythic motifs and romantic archetypes. Highlighting the voices of local artisans was vital too, and this small batch capsule conjures a woman whose confidence, self-possession and free-spirited nature speak to storied notions of femininity, heritage, alchemy, and self-expression.
